----------------------------------------Kim Dotcom: Police Cut Way Into Mansion To Arrest Megaupload Founder New Zealand police on Saturday revealed bizarre details of the arrest of the suspected kingpin of an Internet copyright theft case against the James Bond-like backdrop of a country mansion hideaway with electronic locks, a safe room and a pink Cadillac. German national Kim Dotcom, also known as Kim Schmitz, was one of four men arrested on Friday, a day before his 38th birthday, in an investigation of the Megaupload.com website led by the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation.... Could be there before we know it, but not going to wait for the Intel range after Ivy Bridge.

Intel Xeon E5 Processors Hit the Streets
----------------------------------------Mar 7, 2012 10:03 am Intel has launched its long-awaited Xeon E5-2600 processor family, code-named Sandy Bridge, which it says provides an 80 percent improvement in performance compared to the previous Xeon 5600 series. The new processor is aimed at meeting the growing demands of cloud computing, consumerisation and big data.http://www.pcworld.com/article/251421/intel_x...ts.html#tk.nl_dnx_h_crawl |

Just a friendly tip:
----------------------------------------I was planning on waiting for Ivy Bridge to come out in order to get my PCI 3.0 2x16 rig set up, however I was having the hardest time finding a mobo that could support it. Than I found this http://www.anandtech.com/show/4830/intels-ivy-bridge-architecture-exposed So, in case anyone was looking at buying, or already owns, multiple PCI 3 cards, and wanted them to be running at full capacity, from my understanding, you will need to buy a 2011 chip. I recently saw the 3820 at Microcenter for $250, so this is the direction I will personally be going. Just a heads up to those (I'm assuming few) individuals who want full bandwidth for thier multiple PCI 3 cards. Ivy Bridge will not support it. Just a friendly tip. Crunching on.... I agree completely. I knew that the 2011 supported 40 lanes, however I was hoping to see at least 32 lanes supported for IB, and when IB-E comes out this winter, than maybe 48 or even 64, however this does not seem to be the case.
Supporting only 16 lanes is pretty meager. And it may have been you skgiven who mentioned in a different thread that you wished Intel would "stop wasting precious die-space on high end chips with their HD Graphics, since people that buy those use discrete graphics anyways" Sorry if I misquoted, but that statement sums it up perfectly, and I couldn't agree more. I don't mind moving to a 2011, as this will probably be my last rig I build for high-performace for quite some time. I will of course create others from cheaper parts, but it bothers me that I've been "forced" to buy something at their top-tier end, when all I want is to be able to run TWO GPU's at their specified speeds, which for a 3770K should (technologically) have been made possible. I really do wish I could have (like many others I would assume) a 6 core version, but at $500 it's really pushing my limits for a CPU, especially since it does not offer more PCI lanes, or really any other benefit for me (besides extra threads). I've read RUMORS that when IB-E comes out, they MAY push out an 8-core HT for the extreme version, but at $1000 this is just too much. However, the amount of heat at even 3.5GHz running full bore 24/7 would seem a little high: would certaintly make it extreme i suppose. As a side note, I've also read that they will be increasing the multi. to 63x, however, as was reported by testers who have these already, they heat up quick and will most likely offer limited overclockability, which leads me to believe that it could just be a marketing gimmick. The smaller we go the less these chips are designed for the kinds of punishment we put these chips through (the mobile world of computing is upon us, which should prove to be disastrous for desktop models IMHO.) Oh well, tis the world we live in, where competition in markets is rarely seen anymore (besides software). Hardware is just too expensive to start-up and keep up with R&D. At $250 for a 3820, I can't complain, but I feel sorry for those who are being bottlenecked by a $1000 CPU on basically anything above a 2 PCI 3.0 GPU setup. Seems rather crazy if you ask me. |

Typical Microsoft Greed.
http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/technology-blog/w...-play-dvds-171546904.html "And when combined with some of the other frustrations of Windows 8, such as a tablet experience being shoehorned into a PC format, Microsoft may very well be playing with fire." "There's a reason why so many people are still running Windows XP on their computer, after all. " |
