Question about credit calculation

I don't usually pay much attention to the credits, but this one has me stumped.
It's from the previous round.
BETA_ A.27.C18H10N6S2Si.2.1.set1d06_ 2-- 617 Valid 6/19/10 00:31:28 6/20/10 03:04:30 12.00 147.5 / 192.1
BETA_ A.27.C18H10N6S2Si.2.1.set1d06_ 1-- 617 Valid 6/18/10 22:41:29 6/19/10 10:53:45 10.55 236.7 / 192.1 <-me

I took 10.55 to complete the entire WU. My wingman took 12 hours and did not complete the WU.
How does that result in equal credit?

Re: Question about credit calculation

That question was asked in the last CEP2 Beta thread too... so co-bump!

Re: Question about credit calculation

Greetings,

I do not have the answer to this question at this time. knreed who would know the answer on points for validation is on vacation and may not answer until next week. I believe it is given the same way for all beta projects, there is not additional algorithms on beta's depending on the project that is running on it. But again, this is just my assumption.

Thanks,
-Uplinger

But as we can see- the blue beta badge is working.
Or are you only betatesting the badge? biggrin

Re: Question about credit calculation

:) :) :) someone noticed :) :) :)

I do have 2 years of beta testing, not just testing the beta badge :) But I use the same machines that we alpha test to make sure that nothing new was introduced between beta and alpha testing.

So many Kudo's to the members who have a badge on BETA and many many thanks to all that have helped us test many applications!

Re: Question about credit calculation

Pirogue, I expect there was a 12h run time cap, as with present Linux Betas
So the calculation would seem a bit unfair, as it is averaging points for unfinished work with points for finished work, and awarding equally. Well, unfair for you, but generous for your wingman.
However, how else could it be done, without finishing the task at least twice? Just go by your results, or guess the time it would take the wingman to finish from a checkpoint? Whatever alternative calculation method someone came up with, it might be too much work for the scientists, especially for a few Betas.

Re: Question about credit calculation

I'm pretty sure there was/is a cap.

My question was due to the fact that the same credit was given for both. One of them finished the entire WU and one didn't.

As sekerob stated in the previous beta thread killed jobs count as completed ones. Your wingman was stopped by the time limit while processing the last job, so it counts as if he finished that job. So he gets the same credit as you because there are only 16 jobs (starting with job #0).
Of course you did more work completing job 15, but that part is ignored by the credit system at the moment.
