Windows Launch still July 17th?

I haven't seen any CEP2 beta tests for Windows, so I'm guessing things have been delayed from the original estimates.
Is the Windows launch still planned for the original estimate of July 17th?

Re: Windows Launch still July 17th?

I am as well waiting for at least the CEP2 Beta for Windows - but I'm pretty sure that neither a Beta nor a 'productive' phase would start on a Saturday...?!

Re: Windows Launch still July 17th?

Not heard anything much beyond what bbover3 posted on June 30. No Beta, no Launch, or it will be the shortest one we've ever seen. Typical Beta launch is frequently on Friday, so crossing fingers.

Re: Windows Launch still July 17th?

Well, my fingers are crossed (ok, not during I am typing this post wink ).
But to be honest, I don't think, July 17th is realistic... Even if the ß will start right in this second, everyone knows, that it will take a few days (and maybe also some cycles of ß-tests) until the software goes productive.
How ever, I will keep my 6 cores running (4 of them 24/7, 2 of them approx. 18of24/5of7-10of24/2of7).
Until the windows version is productive, I hope that I can snag some DDDT2 WU's... biggrin biggrin biggrin

Re: Windows Launch still July 17th?

My guess is the first week of August - based on the fact that I haven't seen a Beta test being performed and it'll take a little while to ensure that the servers can cope with the huge files that'll be involved biggrin

Re: Windows Launch still July 17th?

It will not arrive until they are good and ready to accommodate the rapid expansion of the project from being about 1% (Linux only) of WCG total daily runtime to perhaps 20 times that, or they stagger its introduction.
For those wanting to crunch CEP2, make sure you read this first:
http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,29269
I suggest people opt to crunch at least one other WCG project at the same time, and I would strongly suggest that those with several systems on one site, have a good long think about the bandwidth requirements.
