http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,31040

This has the Screen saver fix found in version 6.41. As well as the speed enhancements for Windows.

Please post any issues here.

Thanks,

Re: Beta for HCC ver 6.42 Windows Only

No issue, but noticed a replication of 3 and a minimum quorum of 2.
I suppose the third not started copy will be aborted by the server if the first 2 returned valid.

Crystal Pellet,

You are correct. I had forgotten on HCC1 Beta we had initial replication of 3. This was setup originally to help get results back quicker.

If the third copy was not started and their agent checked into the servers after the first two were validated, then that 3rd work unit will get a server abort message.

Thanks,

Re: Beta for HCC ver 6.42 Windows Only

It looks like the runtime is now similar to the Linux version as far as I remember correctly, but I haven't recent numbers to compare.
I don't know how the screensaver behaves. I never use it. For that I've the on/off button wink

Results from an Intel Q8300 @2.5GHz and Vista64:

BETA_ X0000064650174200602171951_ 1-- 1020031 Pending Validation 17/03/11 16:55:59 17/03/11 18:12:35 1.27 25.9 / 0.0

First impression is that these Beta's are running a bit faster on Intel compared to AMD. Or is that due to the 1333MHz FSB.

Speed could cut the work units in half. This is of course estimated.

After snagging of the broken off test version 6.41 and 1 of 6.42, it's still 1.95 times the amount of work as version 6.40, in 32 bit incarnation ;>)

Re: Beta for HCC ver 6.42 Windows Only

uplinger,

Do you plan to increase the WU size for future HCC WUs to reduce the increase stress on the servers when V6.42 gets release? Or will you leave them alone because the servers are more then powerful enough?

If you planning to increase the WU size, then it will increase the size for Linux too, right?

Re: Beta for HCC ver 6.42 Windows Only

anhhai,

We do not have plans to change the work unit lengths. To do that for HCC would involve sending two or more work units together. These work units are set sizes from the researchers and aren't cut up like some other projects.

With all that said, changing the work units in the future could always be a possibility.

Also, any changes to the work units would be for all versions of the application, Linux and Mac.

Thanks,
-Uplinger
