hi, i have a question about something that i would like a serious and preferably knowledgeable answer for
----------------------------------------if someone came up with a new idea, such as a math equation, a psychological concept or breakthrough, etc how would they go about spreading the info in a way that they could be ensured full credit? and this is in a non-doctorate case, so no paper writing or anything. Hello greg2342,
----------------------------------------There is no guaranteed credit except with patents or recognized (peer-reviewed / refereed) research journals. There are online journals that accept messages at the editor's discretion. But any publication gives you a good chance at priority and credit. The academic rules for credit emphasize publication and secondarily but almost as importantly peer-review. Lawrence Added: There is a lot of math in small fields that is not published because everybody (in that field) knows it but the first person to publish it in a review article or text book will gain the credit (and the scorn of his colleagues). Just one of the flaws with the current system of credit. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at May 26, 2011 7:11:44 PM] |
