Re: New Beta Starting 2011/07/22

I found a conflict when running Moo! Wrapper with an ATI
The GPU activity is dropping to 60% when Beta Test 6.12 is running.
When I suspend the task the GPU activity returns to 99%.
I had the same on 3 other boxes yesterday where the GPU app's run-time increased 4 times!

crying
Received a few and it's doing the same again
On one box the GPU activity drops to 5% when Beta Test 6.12 runs.
Suspending does not help anymore.
Only after restarting Boinc with the tasks suspended the GPU returns to normal
Could it be memory? All my boxes have 2GB ram

No other WCG project or Beta does this

Re: New Beta Starting 2011/07/22

Ok, just a heads up...on initial inspection, these look good.

The science does a calculation against different size ligands. Depending on the size of the ligand determines the runtime per job. We are still working to estimate this properly but as for these workunits they were not estimated. Some of the smaller ligands in the quick runs checkpointed every 40 seconds. Which would come out to be about 6-7 minutes with these workunits. There are however ligands that ran for 10 minutes on the quicker workunits, which would cause them to check point every 1.5 hours. As you can see there is a large difference in speed based on the ligand.

In your stderr, you should see pdbqt = # # asdfasdfadf

These two numbers represent the size of the ligand. the first number varies so far between 10 and 38. The second number between 0 and 15. the smaller the combination between the two the shorter the job.

Thanks,
-Uplinger

Interesting. I am running twin EVGA GTX260's, GTX285's & GTX460's on Milkyway concurently with the WCG BETA and have no problems on the GPU side. 12 gig RAM though. Good luck. good luck

Copycat-Digital,

I am not sure about what you are encountering. It could be memory related but I am not sure.

Thanks,

Re: New Beta Starting 2011/07/22

I was just about to post something similar Uplinger. I have three on one of my Linux boxes, all at about 30 minutes run time with completion between 8 and 30%.

Re: New Beta Starting 2011/07/22

Wonder if this is 45% per internal docking job. Can't imagine it being so off from what Uplinger said on the time theĆ½'d take. BOINCtasks monitoring gives 2 checkpoints done after 34 minutes at 31%... Linux 64 bit OS, but same I686 science app.

On my W7-32 it's 7.5% after 35 minutes, no checkpoint yet.

--//--

OK, on Linux, [not looking uninterrupted] somewhere at the 4th or 5th checkpoint the progress reset from about 50% to 7.5%, suggesting a new docking was started, and checkpoints count went back to 0. The CPU time is very close to the Elapsed time and still the holding at each checkpoint. 7.5% does not fit well with a multiplier into 100%. How many dockings in a job... 13-14?

I've switched LAIM off and will suspend them after a checkpoint, so they unload and then resume them to see how they restart. Only allowed 2 of 4 to start ahead of the queue, so it's not to big a juggle to time it right.

This is only on the boxes with ATI cards
My 4th box with a Nvidia GTX570 running PG runs fine

I have 4 running, spread over 3 different Linux boxes. I'll try to keep an eye on incrementing percentages complete.

Re: New Beta Starting 2011/07/22

Some of you mentioned conflicts with GPU units. I just had a look to the TThrottle process list and found that here:

This one's a Beta:

CPU:1 - PID:2912 (3) Slot:15 http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/ BETA_BETA_ace80_0000000_4107
CPU:1, GPU:0, PID:280 (2) Child: wcg_beta13_vina_6.12_windows_intelx86

This one's a HCC:

CPU:1 - PID:5096 (3) Slot:1 http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/ X0000119050338201003251404

The Beta tasks (edit: Vina) *does* show the GPU while HCC only shows CPU. However the GPU doesn't seem to crunch according to it's temperature.
