Inconclusive/Invalid

I have 6 invalid and 9 inconclusive results all coming from the same cruncher. Can anyone shed some light as to why this is only happening on only 1 machine. Haven't seen this on other projects. I checked everything I could think of. i7-860 running @ stock speed, 4GB 1333MHz. ram, Server 2008 R2. confused

Re: Inconclusive/Invalid

strange.... what are the work units that came up this way... it may help others explain it for you. Also how many GOOD work units has that computer produced in the same time it got 6 invalid and 9 inconclusive....

my only suggestion is try that 1 computer on other WCG projects for a few days

my only guess on the inconclusive is that since that computer got 6 invalid ... the WCG computer put it as a questionable result for its other work units hence the 9 that are inconclusive and getting another computer to check them... but that's only my guess.

Re: Inconclusive/Invalid

My feeling is there are still some validation issues with certain configurations. I have an Athlon XP system that has failed to produce a valid result on this project yet. So far it's only finished a single DSFL and is waiting on the wingman, but every result from Beta went inconclusive->invalid.
This system has been producing valid work for over six years and has no issues with other sciences, so I've just de-selected DSFL for now on that machine. Whether it's worthwhile for the techs to address the invalids, I'll leave up to them.

Lawrence

Invalids are from targets 1,2&3
Inconclusives are from targets 1,2&4.

All the inconclusives have a second inconclusive from another wingman and a 3rd copy in progress so I'm assuming that the 3rd copy results will be compared to the 2 inconclusives and 1 will be validated and 1 will turn invalid.
Very strange that this is happeneing on only 1 cruncher since I have a second one with the exact same hardware other than the HDD and it has no problems.
I may switch the problem child to other projects. It was running HCC and C4CW before switching it to DFSL and never had any issues. I really hate losing precious computing time.

Re: Inconclusive/Invalid

I had created a similar post but thought the issues went away with a power cycle but reviewing my results I see that is not so :-(
inconclusives from targets 1, 2, 3, 4, 7 always turn to invalid. I'm sure there were some from other targets but they have since been cleared of the "Results" page.

Re: Inconclusive/Invalid

Hi,
I had a normally reliable machine doing the same thing at the same time as mecole as I watched that thread. So would have been doing up to target 4 then.
I did have a look at the results log when it was occurring and made a brief comparison between failed and valid work but couldn't spot any obvious differences.
Couldn't resolve the issue using available advice so I deselected DSFL and that machine is back to producing all valid work.

Athlon 64 X2 5200+
Win XP Pro SP3
Machine is 24/7 WCG

Re: Inconclusive/Invalid

I have 2 boxes that I have pulled, both AMD, both windows32, the only valid I have had from these boxes was when the wingman was waiting on me, then 50-50 chance of valid, otherwise, is pv, incon, invalid

Re: Inconclusive/Invalid

Well, my problem child computer has finally gotten a wingman to return their result. As expected, mine went inconclusive then invalid. I long ago pulled this science off of that machine because of the invalids on Beta results for DSFL. The computer has been very reliable for six years now and rarely if ever throws an error in the other sciences. I'm merely posting this information in the hopes that it will help the techs to isolate the cause of the invalid results.

It's an Athlon XP running Windows XP 32 bit home. The BOINC log follows:

This system also picked up one of the recent Beta units which also went invalid. Thus far it's 0/7 for DSFL and DSFL Beta.

Re: Inconclusive/Invalid

I have DSFL WUs with the following ID form:
1] DSFL_00000008_00000052_yyyy_z
2] DSFL_00000008_00000053_yyyy_z

where: yyyy - tail IDs; z= 1 or 0

These are productionWorkUnits; no "Beta" mark there. Assuming that a Beta-X corresponds to the production-X, so that:
1] Beta-52 corresponds to production-52
2] Beta-53 corresponds to production-53

Can I expect possible issues for my production WUs? What to do?

I would appreciate an advisory from WCG for Production-WUs (much like advisories from the Beta-WUs).
