Re: Little Mermaid's "inflicting" thread

Yes, isn't it just plain awful?
- and I don't need to have the faintest idea about the subject matter
Talk, Talk, TALK, TALK
- and I learn several foreign languages in order not to run out of words
anywhere
It has been a curse all my life
- they put me at the window sill away from my classmates ...
- they locked me out of the classroom ...
- they kept me alone after hours ..
- my parents suspected they used a gramophone needle when they inoculated me ...
- exasperated, he claimed, I talked him to death ...
- to this day I always hear: husssshhh!!!
Well, do you think they have a patch for compusory talking?
Maybe then someone would say:
rose You Say It BestWhen You Say Nothing at All rose

Re: Little Mermaid's "inflicting" thread

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder--- What is attention deficit hyperactivity disorder?
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is one of the most common childhood disorders and can continue through adolescence and adulthood. Symptoms include difficulty staying focused and paying attention, difficulty controlling behavior, and hyperactivity (over-activity).
ADHD has three subtypes:1
Predominantly hyperactive-impulsive
Most symptoms (six or more) are in the hyperactivity-impulsivity categories.
Fewer than six symptoms of inattention are present, although inattention may still be present to some degree.
Predominantly inattentive
The majority of symptoms (six or more) are in the inattention category and fewer than six symptoms of hyperactivity-impulsivity are present, although hyperactivity-impulsivity may still be present to some degree.

Children with this subtype are less likely to act out or have difficulties getting along with other children. They may sit quietly, but they are not paying attention to what they are doing. Therefore, the child may be overlooked, and parents and teachers may not notice that he or she has ADHD. wink smile
Combined hyperactive-impulsive and inattentive
Six or more symptoms of inattention and six or more symptoms of hyperactivity-impulsivity are present.

Re: Little Mermaid's "inflicting" thread

ADHD was not invented in my childhood, GeraldRube
- and I don't think I fit the inattentive, do you?
I think we have a talk issue which the psychs still have to invent a diagnosis for ...
How are you?
Are you well enough to face New Years Eve?

Re: Little Mermaid's "inflicting" thread

I hope you had a good New Year also, GeraldRube, and that you feel better for each day.
To be honest, GeraldRube, your present President did not quite follow up on
what he cranked up my expectations to be when I sat there glued to the TV,
my heart swelling bigger with each word he said in his inauguration speech.
I don't blame him, but myself for letting my expectations be subject to cranking up
- but that's how I operate, I'm afraid ...

The picture is from Colorado and it shows the cog wheel train going up to - well, yes - the peak of Pike's Peak.
It's very cold up there, but the view is stunning. You have a panoramic view of hundreds of miles.
That view inspired Katherine Lee Bates to write "America the Beautiful" and you can read the story
here
- and you can listen to it here
America the Beautiful

Did I ever tell you, I your country, GeraldRube?

Here's from New York yesterday.

Re: Little Mermaid's "inflicting" thread

Godt NytÅr to you Ms Mermaid, and may you continue to make up the numbers for me being so lax in posting here.

I envy your ability with languages having struggled learning just one more but then, perhaps if had done a better job learning my own language I would find it easier.

Re: Little Mermaid's "inflicting" thread

Godt Nytår, OldChap!
- and thank you for finding the Å
Since you struggled to learn one foreign language, I'm pleased you chose Danish
Well 23 posts are better than none biggrin
- but I think most crunchers just crunch - also, I believe that most crunchers are male
- and I think they tend to crunch in silence until they encounter one problem or another
- and the male sex is rumoured not to be all that talkative
Am I right?
