HCC1 GPU Testing - Next Round (Started on May 10)

We have gotten some feedback from the researchers about the previous results. They need more data in order to determine what they want to do to move forward. They have two batches of work that contain a variety of the different classes of images that are found in rest of the data. They have previously used these to verify that the application is operating as desired. We are running these through the beta to do the same here. We will sending back all results identified as valid as well as a selection of results identified as invalid. Depending on what they find, there may need to be a new method for validating workunits that take these new differences into account. However, the first step is to get this data set back to them. This work is available now.

Re: HCC1 GPU Testing - Next Round (Started on May 10)

Got a couple on 680 here's to hoping valids this time.....

EDIT: Still high usage and slow response on 680, but 570 only running at 86-89% usage. MUCH BETTER. Don't expect 6xx series to get much better unless NVIDIA drivers fix this. 680=96-98% usage and still slower....

However, the first step is to get this data set back to them. This work is available now.

It can't be very important to get the data back to them very soon, since WCG's scheduling-server tells clients to not bother asking for GPU-work for a week:
10.05.2012 22:30:04 | World Community Grid | [unparsed_xml] SCHEDULER_REPLY::parse(): unrecognized cuda_backoff
10.05.2012 22:30:04 | World Community Grid | [unparsed_xml] SCHEDULER_REPLY::parse(): unrecognized 604800
10.05.2012 22:30:04 | World Community Grid | [unparsed_xml] SCHEDULER_REPLY::parse(): unrecognized /cuda_backoff
10.05.2012 22:30:04 | World Community Grid | [unparsed_xml] SCHEDULER_REPLY::parse(): unrecognized ati_backoff
10.05.2012 22:30:04 | World Community Grid | [unparsed_xml] SCHEDULER_REPLY::parse(): unrecognized 604800
10.05.2012 22:30:04 | World Community Grid | [unparsed_xml] SCHEDULER_REPLY::parse(): unrecognized /ati_backoff

Since cuda_backoff and ati_backoff is deprecated in v7-clients, these clients will still ask for GPU-work.

Re: HCC1 GPU Testing - Next Round (Started on May 10)

Woohoo.....

680 validated this time around with 301.25. Wonder what was wrong with 301.24? (Only comparing to the one other person here from last GPU run)

Re: HCC1 GPU Testing - Next Round (Started on May 10)

They are running fine. No idea, whether the machine is sluggish, because no KVM connected to that cruncher.
Elapsed times 6-7 minutes on a GTX 560 together with 8 c4cw's concurrently.
Meanwhile returned 9 valids. All wingmen must be fast too, because no pendings although quorum of 2.

Edit: Forgot to mention - Due to the short runtimes BOINC thinks I've now >6000 hours of c4cw work to do and started tasks running in panic mode.

How much beta work can we expect in this round?
