BOINC gone crazy after completing BETA tasks

My system has been working steadily for a long time. Today I received and processed 5 BETA Wu's successfully, all PV. Then the crazy started. Boinc kept asking for more work for the CPU until eventually after receiving 94 new tasks for DSFL the server stopped sending them saying (quite correctly) I would not be able to complete them in time. My settings were for 1 day cache, running 24/7 on a quad.

I am only working on one task at a time. status says "running high priority (1.00 CPUs & 1.00 ATI GPUs). The previously running tasks are all "waiting to run (1.00 CPUs & 1.00 ATI GPUs)"

I rebooted to see if that would clear and set "Run GPU to Never" that just stopped all work. Allowed GPU use and one task is now progressing.

Why does DSFL now want a GPU?
Why only one task?
Why download so many wus?

Any help gratefully received.

My startup message is as follows"

Re: BOINC gone crazy after completing BETA tasks

Think this is better fitting to the GPU support or BETA test forum. This crazy has been reported over at the BOINC developers [First I see it on the WCG forums]. Think a few experienced GPU crunchers can tell you what the escape clause is. Stand by.

Re: BOINC gone crazy after completing BETA tasks

I tried re-installing BOINC, but the same problems persist. I will close this box down and wait for further advice regarding a fix.

-- snip from FAHE <Sep 5, 2012 10:46:00 AM> post
Of the three queries above, the first involves a matter which seems to have been resolved. The 2nd and 3rd query may or may not be related. The 3rd query ('Why download so many WUs') is what I'll report about here.

A few hours ago, my Win-machine downloaded so many CPU-based HCC WUs that it triggered my BOINC_v7.0.28 to go into the so-called 'panic-mode': WUs run at 'high priority'. Incidentally, the machine happen to have picked up a lone beta-HCC-GPU_v6.51 WU. Thus, there is apparently still some issue with the downloading of WUs swinging from excess of WUs downloaded to perhaps the over-correction of downloading only one (or in some cases, none) WU.

Right, the recent Beta test was not a fix. Rather, it was run to give additional information to track down a bug.

Roger that, Lawrence. Any time I see the known symptoms of the issue surfacing again on my machines, I'll do a post.

Re: BOINC gone crazy after completing BETA tasks

Hi,
I have a 6 core AMD 1100T running 24/7.
It's set to run GPU WUs and mainly HFCC.

This error has surfaced again on my computer and with a buffer or 0.5days, I have 12 days per core downloaded.
I have stopped the fetching of new tasks, suspended the majority of tasks and will have to abort some as I try to get it out of panic mode.

Any idea what I should do?

Here is where the issue started (I think).
