Re: Welcome to Mapping Cancer Markers

Where can I find more technical information about this project? What is the current used compiler (for example Clang, Intel or Microsoft)? Which programming language is used (latest C++11 or an older version)? Are modern CPU architectures supported (SSE, AVX, AVX2)?

I would suggest checking these two links:
http://www.cs.utoronto.ca/~juris/tools.htm
http://www.cs.utoronto.ca/~juris/contact.htm
Cheers

Re: Welcome to Mapping Cancer Markers

Hello steamywindow,
I suggest using Dr. Igor Jurisica's email address shown at the contact URL that Sgt. Joe provided to politely request an infodump in the forum about the software details. biggrin I am interested too, though I have a lot of practice in not asking about details that cause most people's eyes to glaze over.

I was not part of the production build, but I can comment on development. In the Jurisica lab, we developed the project using a combination of Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Express and Eclipse with g++. The code was regular C++, not C++11 (though the new spec makes some coding easier and quicker). The project also includes some third-party code (SVM-light, used with author Dr. Thorsten Joachims's kind permission) written in C.

Edit: I was not part of the production build (but I am co-developer)

Re: Welcome to Mapping Cancer Markers

Thanks for the information.

I do not know if this has already tested or is already realized but are there any plans to recompile the C source code with the advanced vector extensions 2 in Visual C++ 2013 Express. I am only asking because I think that many people in the grid have the latest CPUs running at home. Sorry when I am asking to much.

Re: Welcome to Mapping Cancer Markers

The current Mapping Cancer Markers build does not use any AVX instructions.

Thanks,

Re: Welcome to Mapping Cancer Markers

Knowing several people who are cancer survivors (including myself and another with the outcome still uncertain), this is not just an intellectually good idea.

It is personal.

More than happy to donate my home quad core and another office computer to this project in particular and a couple of other disease and energy one on WCG.

Happy hunting!

Re: Welcome to Mapping Cancer Markers

I was wondering how the actual results being returned are used.
Are they being used as possible avenues (possible help) or are they using the no good ones to also determine what not to pursue?

Just curious over all, as I like to know these things. (I will continuing the crunch regardless of the answer).
