Free ACS Webinar

The American Chemical Society (ACS) has many free webinars that may be of interest to WCG participants. Tomorrow, they are presenting a free webinar entitled "From Molecules to Medicine: How Structure Helps Cure Disease". This will start on October 9 at
2 PM ET, and is approximately 1 hour long.

Go to http://www.acs.org/content/acs/en/events/upco...nars/crystallography.html for more details and registration.

The instructions you will receive include the following: "You will be connected to audio using your computer's microphone and speakers (VoIP)." This (so far) has not been entirely correct. Your PC's microphone will be disabled -- if you wish to ask questions -- a chat window is available.

Many of these webinars are of a technical nature.

I didn't put the webinar title or date in the topic so that I can list additional webinars that may be of interest to the group, as they become available.

Re: Free ACS Webinar

This Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015 from 2:00 - 3:00 PM EST, there will be another free American Chemical Society (ACS) webinar, that maybe of interest to the WCG Community:

"Designing Better Drug Candidates" -- Session 1 of the Drug Design and Delivery Symposium

"Only about 4% of candidate drugs reach the market. The main culprits of this failure are due to issues with dosing , exposure and toxicity. Join us as Dr. Paul Leeson shares how improving candidate quality can be facilitated by the selection of lead-like chemical starting points, control of physicochemical properties during optimization, employment of predictive chemistry tools, and the application of ligand efficiency measures."

More info and a link to register for the webinar is available here .

This Thursday, Feb. 26, 2015 from 2:00 - 3:00 PM EST, there will be another free American Chemical Society (ACS) webinar, that maybe of interest to the WCG Community:

Strategies to Improve Solubility of Drug Candidates

"Dr. Michael Walker presents the factors that govern the aqueous solubility of small molecule drugs. In addition, a number of different strategies for improving solubility through structural modification are presented. Join us to learn what can stand in the way of optimizing solubility and ask your questions. "

Re: Free ACS Webinar
This Thursday, March 19, 2015 from 2:00 - 3:00 PM EDT, there will be another free American Chemical Society (ACS) webinar, that may be of interest to the WCG Community:

Fragment-Based Drug Design Strategies

"New approaches are essential to deliver drugs and tool compounds against increasingly difficult targets. Rather than screening millions of drug-sized compounds, fragment-based drug discovery starts with libraries of just a few thousand very small molecules, or fragments. This enables a more thorough exploration of chemical space to find better starting points for lead optimization. Join us as Dr. Dan Erlanson explains all this and more in the third session of our symposium."

This is Session 3 of the Drug Design and Delivery Symposium

More info and a link to register for the webinar is available here.
