The problem is intermittent BOTH for upload AND download.... something is busy.

Indeed. Here's a failed download attempt. Same response "Unknown SSL protocol error".

Manual retries helps in single cases.
I tried that too for all my devices that are accessible via boinctasks, but I have a bunch of android devices that run headless (six androids) and glorius boincclient doesn't allow remote access :(
The upload and download on these devices is stuck and they run dry now :(
And thanks to the automatic postpone with automatic increase of timeintervall for the retry they might wait until eternety...

I just had a large number of FAHV downloads go through just fine. Still have some uploads going through retry cycles. Manual retry not working. Guessing whatever happened resulted in large number of completed tasks heading upstream and something is getting overwhelmed.
