Re: Crunching on cloud

Alibaba Cloud might also be worth considering.

As long as I know, no Chinese cloud vendor provide free for 1yr service. Most of them claim giving out FREE service, but after registration you'd found out it's only for 1 day or maybe even 15 mins laughing angry

This is what they say about the free trial:
For Individual Free Trial, you can use one of the following instances' services:
• ecs.t5-lc1m1.small for 12 months with 40 GB ultra cloud disk or SSD disk and 1 MB internet bandwidth.
• ecs.t6-c1m1.large or ecs.t5-c1m1.large for 3 months with 40 GB ultra cloud disk or SSD disk and 1 MB internet bandwidth.

Perhaps you don't have access to this from China?

Hmmm, interesting. I didn't try the international site of Alibaba. Let me have a look. Thanks for tip :)

Re: Crunching on cloud

Google's Compute Engine gives you an f1-micro instance for free, 744/hours per month (which is a month) 1 shared core, 600MB RAM. Text only Ubuntu 16.04 is what I run on it. But hey, it would've only been $5/month, and if I somehow go over (counting bug?), i would only be charged pennies. It's free so

I also fired one up, it's a nice set it and forget it. But the 300$ credit also gives a lot of computing power, I started an 8 threads instance and it should run freely for over 2 months.

Re: Crunching on cloud

I found a local company that provides cloud computing and paid RMB20 (about US$3) a month to get a dedicated thread. The spec is: 1.5GHz (equivalant to Intel Xeon E5504) / 1 core, 2GB RAM, 10GB HD, 2Mbps Internet speed. First OPN WU is running FAST. Should be finished in 3.5hrs. Wish me luck, guys.

Re: Crunching on cloud

My F1-Micro instance is throwing all errors now... the only line of text in the return result is the CORE CLIENT string; literally nothing else... weird!

Re: Crunching on cloud

Strange. Maybe try a project reset or even create a new VM to replace that one?
