Re: OpenPandemics GPU Beta Test - Feb 18 2021 [Issues Thread]

Have several of these running well on a ryzen system, running an nvidia 1650 low profile card. They are well behaved thus far, ranging from about 30 megs ram at start up, to oscillating between 150 and 230 megs ram. They finish very quickly, with each unit taking under one minute, averaging about 30-40 seconds. Will keep an eye out for any errors among my machines. Have a gtx 660ti, a 1650 4 gb, and a 3080.

Re: OpenPandemics GPU Beta Test - Feb 18 2021 [Issues Thread]

DrMason,

Thanks for the feedback. Yes, we have over 1000 successful results back already. These are running very fast. We will have other work units in the queue for the future beta that will include more ligands, compared to the batch that is running now. We are running short work units now to hopefully catch a wide assortment of graphics cards.

Note: These work units are the same size as the CPU version of the application version.

Thanks,
-Uplinger

Re: OpenPandemics GPU Beta Test - Feb 18 2021 [Issues Thread]

We have lots of results back already, I am going to add 2 more batches for tonight to get results back from members. 1 batch at cpu sizing and one at gpu sizing. For those curious, batch numbers for sizing are this:

20000 - gpu size
20001-20006 - cpu size
20007- gpu size

Thanks,
-Uplinger

Re: OpenPandemics GPU Beta Test - Feb 18 2021 [Issues Thread]

Thanks for the information, Uplinger. And what an amazing demonstration of the power of parallel processing via GPU vs CPU! I just checked some of my CPU results, and one with 5 "jobs" in the workunit took about a hour 45 minutes. What does that average, 21 minutes per "job"? Not bad, IMO. But on my GTX 1650, it averaged 7 SECONDS per "job"! A GPU level workunit with 51 "jobs" took less than 7 minutes. So we're looking at a nearly 200x speedup for that card, which is not the biggest baddest one by far.

Having trouble getting my linux mint server to recognize my gt 660ti, but if I can get that one going, it'll be interesting to see how an older card runs them biggrin

FlynRyan,

You might want to make sure your antivirus software is not preventing the new application from starting.

Thanks,
Jonathan

Thanks for your reply. If that is the case, do I need to add something else to the exception list for the antivirus software? Boinc.exe is already an exception.

Edit: I have added the entire boinc main folder as well as the program data folder to the exceptions list as per the suggestion from falconet below. We'll see if it works now. Thanks.

I would add the entire BOINC data directory to the exceptions. C;/ProgramData/BOINC or something like that. You check the directory path on the first few lines of the BOINC event log.

Re: OpenPandemics GPU Beta Test - Feb 18 2021 [Issues Thread]

Is the GPU version of AutoDock related to the CurieMarieDock program available at
https://gitlab.com/Jukic/cmdock?

Is source for the GPU version of AutoDock available?

Will this beta test cause problems on computers set to allow WCG beta testing but not set to allow BOINC use of the CPU?
