Your Top 3 Books ...

Post by citygirl22 »

Since the Book Nook forum is hopping again, I thought I'd add to the conversation Image

With summertime coming up (aka lazy days at the beach) I'm looking for recommendations …. So, what 3 books do you consider to be "must-reads"? They can be your all-time favorite reads or books that changed how you view the world or classics you think everyone should read at some point.

Mine would be …

1. The Art Of Hearing Heartbeats by Jan-Philipp Sendker
… one of the loveliest novels I've ever read
2. The Prodigal God by Timothy Kelly
… a quick read, but really profound and meaningful
3. Locavore: From Farmers Fields To Rooftop Gardens, How Canadians Are Changing The Way We Eat by Sarah Elton
… Radically changed how I view food and the food industry

Five People You Meet in Heaven - Mitch Albom
As the Crow Flies - Jeffrey Archer

I can't nail down a third one...I want to say one or (all of) the Harry Potter books and feel like I should pick a more classic novel.

Harry Potter series
Anne of Green Gables / Pippi Longstocking --- taught me little redheaded girls are cool!
A Song of Ice & Fire (Game of Thrones) series

I agree with all of these (my dad was an English teacher).  I still enjoy Little Women, The Poisonwood Bible, The Shack, and poerty anthologies.

I love to read!  And I read about 2-3 books/week.  Most is crap, insert here Historical Fiction, but there is value even in that.  Mysteries are great, too.  Occasional  serious books break up my reading.d

The top three for me are

1. The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett
2. The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova
3. The Witching Hour by Anne Rice

I also dearly love fiction set in medieval Europe- Sharon Kay Penman novels especially, and anything by Ken Follett. And murder mystery stuff Image

1. King of the Wind by Marguerite Henry
2. The Arabian Nights translated by Husain Haddawy
3. Catch-22 by Joseph Heller
