This is for bbover and the IBM guys ..

Bill,
I think I finally put together a machine to stand up to those beasts you have over at the IBM nos_support team..
Keep a watch on this page the next few days.
I'll be easy to spot, the only one running windows XP in the top group..
Give it a couple days to "make it's mark"
Just 2 sockets and 12 cores but I think it will have the stones to top all but that 84 core rig and my gut tells me that one is a cascade not a single machine.
Let's see what happens.. biggrin

Ahh, she just got recognised by boinc! wink

This machine has been replaced with another board but with the same cpu's so we start the march to the top all over again..
This time faster as I finally have an overclockable board..
The EVGA W555 and it my friends is what I've been looking for years
.

MM - did you manage to drop those CPUs into an ES of that crazy EVGA DP ?
Can you share what you managed to OC it to?
It will be nice to see what it can produce :-)

Movieman, I followed the link and I see that in the CPU column we have the number of Cores and sometimes a second value in parenthesis. What is the meaning of tha value. Virtual cores?

yes, real cores and total cores with hyperthreading..
So 12 real, 24 total, runs 24 WU at a time.
Machine is on HCCC right now exclusively.
Next boinc update and the numbers should really start to move. wink
In 24-48 hours they should be close to what it's really doing.
If I'm right should grab the #2 spot daily. biggrin

It's warming up.. biggrin
First "full" day on the project:
Statistics
Date Total Run Time.. Points Generated Results Returned
1/18/10 0:023:22:28:43.... 80,308............... 110

That's app 11,472 Boinc points..

Do you mean HCC or HFCC? Since you are doing performance measurements I would put my bet on HCC which is the most convenient project for that purpose...

Indeed, 110 HCC per day would be a lovely throughput for a single device. applause
Good job Movieman! Jean.

Good job Movieman! Jean.

OOPS, sorry..
Help Fight Childhood Cancer is what I meant.
And Thank you. I was lucky enough to get these chips.
Now to see them do what they were designed for and maybe cut some time off of getting all this work done.
Now these are at stock speed right now(3458mhz) on a Supermicro X8DA3 motherboard.
Soon I'll see another board where they can really shine.
Think 4300-4500mhz, maybe more.
