50 hour WU?

I have a DDDT2 WU that has been running for 17 hours and is only 7% complete. Estimated time to completion is 33 hours. thinking I've never seen a DDDT2 WU run longer than 3.5-4 hours on this machine. (i7-860) Where did this monster come from? confused

Re: 50 hour WU?

Had one on a laptop take about that long (2GHz IC2D), but also had some take under 1h, on different systems.

Re: 50 hour WU?

what is the name of the WU... that will give us the information to know what type it is and if 50 hours is reasonable for it or not

Re: 50 hour WU?

My Laptop runs the *pe* in about 25 CPU hours (it's not a mac :-). The *se* are much quicker. The *pe* are now taking longer than the A type *ps*. Not seen any C Type taking overlong. Of the *p* branch the *pq* seem to run about 8 hours on that machine.

Took a laptop (IC2D 2GHz) 48.43h
Some unknown wingmans system 8.34h

Generally these tasks are very slow on some lesser CPUs:
I also have Intel Dual Core and an AMD Dual Core system that are much slower for DDDT2 than other WCG tasks. I guess they lack some CPU architecture that the faster CPUs can exploit while running DDDT2 tasks.

Dont have the time to produce task vs points optimization tables, and they would probably vary depending on WU type, and we can't choose that. Besides these floods are not the most common event.

Re: 50 hour WU?

There must have been something very wrong with this particular WU. I checked it later in the evening and it was still showing 7% completion after 20 hours. No way that should happen on an i7-860 running @ 3.8 GHz. All the other WUs seem to be running OK. I aborted that one.

It migth have help the techs/scientists if you had posted the WU details. Bet you didn't do a system restart before you aborted it.

Sorry. I'll save the details if it happens again. How would a system restart have made any difference when the other 50-60 or so WUs that were running in that same 20 hour time frame finished within 1-4 hours?

Forcing a WU to restart helps to determine is the problem is the result of a particular conjunction of events, or if it is due to reasons linked to this WU itself.
