Re: BOINC 7.0.40 warning

Does HCC have to be checked in order to get the GPU wu's? Have a large cache already but haven't downloaded any new wu's yet. I don't have HCC checked but do have run on GPU checked. Don't care to get any regular HCC wu's.

Do you have "If there is no work available for my computer for the projects I have selected above, please send me work from another project." checked?

Edit to add: see my settings here https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/...ad,34395_offset,90#405444

Edit 2 to ask: how large is your HCC GPU cache? Because the limit is 600 WU's "In progress"

NO
Not sure on how many but not 600.
Will I pick up other projects if I check above?

Re: BOINC 7.0.40 warning

No, I am not picking up any other CPU work just from checked sub-project (currently DSFL, just changed to SN2S), but I am receiving HCC GPU work even though HCC is not checked in my profile.

Edit to add screenshot of my profile settings http://f.cl.ly/items/2W033L2U000M0Y3X3y2h/Screenshot%2020.12.2012%2023:54-2.png

With this settings I am picking only SN2S CPU tasks and HCC1 GPU tasks.

Re: BOINC 7.0.40 warning

It works. One of my rigs was dry. After the changes Istarted receiving wu's. Couple of observations:
I selected 10 for both FAAH and HCC1 to crunch in the app_config. When my GPU dried up, FAAH took those idle cores until new HCC1 wu's arrived.
Before making this last change, when using the app_config file for GPU only, had no problems getting new wu"s. Once I changed to use CPU, it stops sending wu's for the GPU, unless you select if no other work.
Maybe it would have been better to just run the GPU project under a separate project that you just select from your profile at WCG. Would have saved allot of headaches and frustrations, and easier for the non tech folks.

Re: BOINC 7.0.40 warning

Glad to hear that Bearcat biggrin

btw: SekeRob posted in some thread that BOINC and WCG techs are working on upgrading Boinc Manager and app_config file to be able to select CPU or GPU work without a need to make such solutions as I recommended to you (thanks to Scribe who first recommended it here http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/...ead,34421_offset,0#404831) thinking

Have a nice holidays and cheers peace

Re: BOINC 7.0.40 warning

One of my crunchers crashed this morning. Not sure if its from the latest boinc version plus crunching both CPU and GPU together, or my GPU card that I turned up a bit recently. Turned it back down and hope that was the issue. Never had issues crunching just GPU. Other cruncher is doing fine crunching both.

Re: BOINC 7.0.40 warning

I was running my dual 7970s in Windows but today switched over to Linux which is my preferred OS. I compiled the latest BOINC from git repository and so far the app_config.xml file is working good. I first put together an app_info.xml put the project came back with a message saying that anonymous platform was not supported. I am glad the app_config.xml is working without issues and will allow for my GPUs to run multiple tasks concurrently.

I am running 5 tasks concurrently per GPU averaging 3:30 per task which comes out to ~ 4,100 tasks per day via two GPUs. That does not seem half bad. A few tasks complete as quickly as 2:45 but most run over 3:00 per task.
