OpenZika project update - November 2016

Hello everyone,

The OpenZika research team has been hard at work, not only on their research and publicizing their project, but on an extensive update which you can read here.

Thank you to everyone who is supporting OpenZika!

Great update. Awesome to see that we are already getting results from the WUs that are leading to lab testing.

Thanks for the update. It is good to hear that progress is being made to the point where actual tests can take place.

I totally agree - no point in hanging around until the full dataset is available when there's the Zika virus to fight.

With the project running so quick (at this point, it's looking as though it'll last ~9 months), will there be more data added to the project? - after all, if the project scientists are getting results that are good enough to be running actual tests against in the lab, it'd be a good opportunity to get even more data that could, possibly, lead to a potential cure.

The research team is planning on looking at additional targets. They plan to screen millions of compounds (as is mentioned in the Project Details page), and so far they've screened less than 8,000 (as is mentioned in the recent project update).

Thanks,
ErikaT

That sounds great!
I am a proud number cruncher for the World Community Grid and the Zika project.
